PoolParty GraphSearch Use Cases
PoolParty GraphSearch Use Cases
This section contains a list of the most common use cases for the PoolParty GraphSearch interface.
Structure and Search Unstructured Data
Enterprise data often is already tagged to some extend, though at the outset, unstructured. The data management systems like DBMS, CMS, DMS and others, may be at the back of it. Using PoolParty GraphSearch you can easily search that data, by using semantic technologies available in PoolParty. You would create a thesaurus describing the knowledge domain using PoolParty taxonomies. In combination with custom scheme faceted search solutions could be developed by indexing the content and thus enabling a structured view on the data or documents in question.
Search on RDF Data
Since their advent, semantic technologies have been partly adopted by enterprise IT system architectures. Compared to the traditional relational model their importance is unfolding incrementally. There are pioneers who adopted RDF early and publish datasets in RDF. They have the need to build search applications on top of RDF datasets and GraphSearch is one of the very few solutions which can achieve this goal without hassle.
Search Thesaurus Project Data
For large PoolParty projects it can be easier to use the GraphSearch interface, since it lets you search and display your thesaurus and the corresponding elements with ease, efficiency and with a state-of-the-art clear interface. There are many cases where taxonomies and thesauri do not just provide vocabulary as a service and get used as metadata, but they themselves are master data or business objects. If you want to model knowledge assets such as chemical and biomedical databases, point of interest catalogs, product catalogs, and so on, GraphSearch might be the easiest solution to publish data without bringing in yet another application.
Search RSS Feeds
This can be the quickest and easiest way to apply semantic search to textual content. This approach works only with a Solr or Elasticsearch search index set up for your project. By subscribing to one or more several RSS feeds, GraphSearch automatically retrieves the following information or performs the respective actions, based on one or more thesauri you specify:
GraphSearch retrieves new entries for feeds.
It performs concept extraction and tagging on the title and description fields for each entry.
GraphSearch then inserts the results into the search index, based on a time interval you can define.
Search on Integrated Data
Your organization or enterprise may hold data in heterogeneous data models and data structures. Existing semantics in such cases often already are quite consistent. Due to the diverse technologies and platforms there is often no trivial solution to have unified access to all data assets. In such cases, a data transformation to the RDF data format is indicated, based on consistent ontologies, which makes integration of such data sets much easier. In this section we will provide information on an integration solution based on PoolParty GraphSearch and UnifiedViews.
