Setup an API User for PoolParty

Abstract

Setup an API User for PoolParty

PoolParty uses Spring Security to configure access to the PoolParty APIs and the SPARQL endpoint.

All PoolParty users except for the users with the PoolPartyReadOnly, WikiEditor or None role can also access the APIs. Although restrictions specified for projects via groups also apply to the APIs.

You can define an API user or a 'technical user' who is allowed to access projects via the API but cannot access the PoolParty backend. To set up an API user for PoolParty, create a new user in the User Administration and assign them the ApiUser or ApiAdmin role as shown in the screenshot below (1). For more information, refer to Create a New User and User Roles in PoolParty.

Caution

You have to activate the API user account before you can use it for the first time.
