Inconsistent Translations Check

Abstract

Inconsistent Translations Check

After the checks have been run, an Exclamation Mark icon and the message 'Inconsistency found' indicates that inconsistencies have been found in the imported file.

This means the following:

  • A concept in the reference language has been found because the term in the reference language matches the preferred, an alternative or a hidden label of the concept.

  • Additionally there is a preferred, alternative or hidden label found for another concept in the thesaurus matching the target terms in the other languages.

Initially, all checks will be displayed. To filter for the results of inconsistencies, follow these steps:

  1. After you imported the Excel file, choose the Reference Language from the drop down. Click Analyze.

  2. Uncheck all by default selected check marks, except for the Inconsistencies check box.

  3. Refer to the Results section for details.

Steps to Check Inconsistencies

An inconsistency in the Terminology Import Assistant will be displayed for you to check as follows:

  • The respective concept presenting the inconsistency will be listed with an Exclamation Mark icon in front of it, in this case the concept 'Beispiel'. You can click on the row and expand details.

  • On the left you see the existing concept 'Worcestershire Sauce' in your thesaurus (1). Here the term' Beispiel' is shown as German preferred label for the English concept 'Worcestershire Sauce'.

    • On the right (2) the concept entry and English preferred label for 'Tabasco sauce' is displayed.

    • Your file, however, contains the term 'Beispiel' on the same row as 'Tabasco sauce'.

  • To remedy the inconsistency you would either remove or change the concept entry in your Excel file.
