Synchronize Custom Ontologies and Custom Schemes
Synchronize Custom Ontologies and Custom Schemes
This section contains a short guide on how to synchronize custom ontologies and custom schemes easily.
Custom schemes are based on ontologies in PoolParty. You can synchronize ontologies (1) and custom schemes (2) so that any changes in an ontology are propagated to one or more custom schemes automatically. Depending on your use case this makes it easy to combine several custom schemes based on the respective ontologies into new knowledge graphs.
You might want to combine the ontologies for product, marketing and sales into one, without resolving the three separate existing knowledge models based on their respective ontologies. You can synchronize one or several custom schemes with one or several custom ontologies.
You can synchronize the following resources:
Classes
Relations
Attributes
When you decide at one point that you want to stop synchronizing one or more custom schemes and one or more ontologies, with a few clicks you can unlink them. You can also decide, if previously automatically synchronized classes, relations and attributes should be kept or removed.
The following topics will guide you through the steps of synchronizing ontologies and custom schemes in one of two ways or to stop synchronizing:

After you have developed a custom ontology and a custom scheme, you have to manually synchronize them. If you do not synchronise them, PoolParty can not update your custom scheme.
Select Synchronize with Custom Ontology.
Select a custom ontology in Synchronise with Custom Ontology dialogue.
Filter the custom ontologies.
Choose a custom ontology. You can select multiple.
Save.
You can do this from the Custom Scheme Details View.
Note
The synchronized ontologies (6) are listed in the Synchronized Ontologies section.

How to Stop Synchronizing a Custom Ontology or Custom Scheme
You might want to stop to synchronize a custom ontology or a custom scheme because you would like to make changes in your custom ontology. You can do this from the Custom Scheme Details View or You can do this from the Custom Scheme Details View.
Click the Add icon in the section Synchornized Custom Schemes in your opened ontology, on the right in the Details View. Or if you are in the custom schemes, click the Add icon in the section Synchornized Ontologies.
Deselect the custom scheme or custom ontology in the Synchronized Custom Schemes or the Synchronized Ontologies to stop the synchronization. As soon as you select a custom scheme, we set the Copy All Data option for you to copy the synchronized resources (classes, relations and attributes). If you move the slider to the right, the setting changes to Remove All Data and this means that PoolParty removes the synchronized resources.
Save.
