How to Edit Existing Users

This section contains a short guide on how to edit a user's details.

To edit an existing user, follow these steps:

  1. Open the User Administration using the icon in the toolbar.

  2. Expand the User Administration node to show all User nodes available.

  3. Select the user you want to edit from the Hierarchy Tree and click his or her node to activate it.

  4. On the right, the user's Details View opens, with the User Details tab active per default.

    Note

    The Username is unique throughout the system and therefore can only be edited during user creation.

    More details on User Details, Change Password, Role and Groups fields you can find below.

  5. To confirm the changes, click Update or Delete todelete a user. PoolParty is going to ask you to confirm the deletion.

To change the language and display settings for the current user, use the tabs Language Settings and Display Settings, respectively.

Available Options and Information

User Details

This section includes information on the following:

  • Username: greyed out, since they are unique throughout the system and therefore, can only be changed during user creation.

  • Full Name: enter a full name for this user here (optional).

  • User Email: enter an email address this user can be reached at (optional).

User Details - Information

This section includes information on the following:

  • Created: displays creation date and time of this user.

  • Last Password Change: displays date and time of the last time the password for this user was changed.

Change Password

This section includes information on the following:

  • New Password: enter a new password for this user.

  • Confirm Password: enter the new password again to confirm.

Role

This section includes information on the following:

  • Current Role: displays the name of Role.

    As a PoolParty SuperAdmin, you can change the user role. Find more details on user roles, here: User Roles in PoolParty.

Groups

This section includes information on the following:

  • Current Groups: displays the groups the user is assigned to.

Granted Authorizations Tab

This section contains a short guide on the Grant Authorizations tab for individual, global users of a PoolParty instance.

The Granted Authorizations tab (2) lets you check and edit the user roles and groups that user is a member of.

How to Edit a User's Roles and Groups

This section contains a short guide on how to edit user roles and groups of existing users in the Granted Authorizations tab.

In the Granted Authorizations tab you can edit the roles and groups a user is assigned to or a member of. That way you can manage permissions and access rights on a granular level. For details refer to: User Rights Management

  1. Open the User Administration using the icon in the toolbar.

  2. Expand the User Administration node and beneath it the Users node.

  3. Select the user you want to edit from the Hierarchy Tree and activate his or her node.

  4. On the right the user's Details View opens, with the User Details tab active per default. Click the Granted Authorizationstab to activate it.

  5. In the Roles section you find all available roles PoolParty provides for user rights management. Details find here: User Roles in PoolParty

    • Use the check boxes to activate or deactivate a role and the respective permissions for the user.

  6. In the Groups section find the available groups the user can be added to. Details find here: User Groups in PoolParty

  7. Click Update to save your changes.

Language Settings Tab

This section contains a short guide on the Language Settings tab for individual, global users of a PoolParty instance.The Language Settings tab contains the settings for the user interface and autocomplete languages for that user.

Additionally, languages used in forms and drop-down fields on this PoolParty instance, for this user, can be edited here. Find more details, here: Edit the Language Settings.

Edit the Language Settings

This section contains a short guide about how to edit a user's Language Settings.

To edit the language settings, in the Language Settings tab, change the following settings as desired:

  1. The User Interface Language setting determines, which language the user interface will be displayed in. Choose from the drop-down list.

  2. Autocomplete Language determines in fields with the autocomplete function, which language will be used or selected by default.

    • Choose from the drop-down.

    • If the language set here is not available in the respective project, PoolParty uses the default language of that project.

  3. Display Languages determines, which display languages are checked by default in the Details view of the project's thesaurus.

    Select the desired language or languages and click the right arrow button to add them to the list of Selected Languages.

    • This setting can be helpful if multiple languages are edited regularly, as users won't have to check each language checkbox individually.

    • If the languages set here are not available in the respective project, PoolParty uses the default language of the project.

  4. Click Update to save the changes you made.

Display Settings Tab

This section contains a short guide on the Display Settings tab for individual, global users of a PoolParty instance.

The Display Settings tab (4) provides the fields for the SKOS View settings. Additionally you can determine the Time Zone for the currently active user.

The Welcome screen check box determines, if this user will see the PoolParty welcome screen, when logging in. Details find in this topic: Edit the Display Settings

Edit the Display Settings

This section contains a short guide on how to edit a user's Display Settings, namely SKOS View options, the time zone and the welcome screen.

To edit the Display Settings, in the Display Settings tab change the following settings as desired:

  1. The SKOS View setting determines the view set for the SKOS tab in the details view of a concept.

    • From the SKOS View drop down choose between Basic or Advanced mode.

  2. The Time Zone setting determines, which time zone is selected by default in the date/time custom scheme attributes this user assigns to concepts.

  3. The Welcome Screen check box determines, if the user will see the default PoolParty welcome screen to create a new project when logging in.

  4. Click Update to save any changes you made.
